Eva Longoria received a Bambi Awards at a ceremony held in Germany on Thursday (November 29). The actress took the accolade on behalf of her fellow Desperate Housewives’ castmates at the event for International TV Series at the 59th annual Bambi Awards in Dusseldorf. She told the press, "I am totally amazed and blown away every time I get outside of America how popular Desperate Housewives is. For me to be here to accept this award and be in Germany and in an international community, it's an honour for me."

Eva Longoria admits her mentally challenged sister helped to appreciate life from another point of views. The Desperate Housewives star revealed to Parade magazine that her sister Liza was her hero while becoming an adult. She says, “Liza is mentally challenged. She was my hero growing up.“It was a blessing to watch her overcome every obstacle - tying her shoes, putting on a shirt, getting out the front door.” Longoria follows, “And yet she still had a job and would come home on the bus by herself and help with dinner.”You could only imagine the hurdles she encountered every minute of the day.” Liza, who the actress’ oldest sister, generated such an impact on the family that their mother Ella turned into a special-education teacher to help her daughter cope with her disability. “Liza was a role model to get me ready for life in Hollywood,” Longoria says. “You don’t take life for granted. “It seems too insignificant to go: ‘Darn it, I didn’t get that movie role’ or ‘Darn it, so-and-so is wearing the same dress as me to the Emmys’. “I didn’t know there was another way. I thought everyone should be sensitive and somewhat unselfish,” concludes the actress.

I actually completely adopted the new name and I love it - I'm a Parker now!," said Eva. "I love every bit of it - I like the tradition of changing the name." She added that although it takes time to be recognizing with the new name, she is very pleased with the switch, "I've been getting used to being called Mrs. Parker for a while now, it's really nice to hear. Especially in Texas, everyone is really respectful there."
